In this note, we introduce generaloized Royal Road functions of type Ⅰand typeⅡ, which generalize Forrest and Mitchell's R_1 and R_2[2], the latter being experimen- tally shown to be unexpectedly hard to optimize by the GA. These functions are parametrized, depending of their type, by one or two parameters, in terms of which we explicitly calculate their normalized epistasis.
