Biometric technology and its application to security problems in various applications is a hotbed for information technology (IT) research. This book takes the point of view of both the person implementing the technology and the person who will be using it.The authors start with an overview of biometrics, covering the basics and exploring why biometrics is becoming part of our daily lives. They make an interesting distinction between ID, 2D, and 3D technology, arguing that 3D is now possible due to the availability of more data thanks to new capturing techniques and equipment.
