As the title of the book rightly states, the contents have more to do with data integration theory and categorical logical theories than big data. The adjective "big" is added to make this book topical, but it is all about theory and theoretical frameworks. The author has written a number of papers on data integration theory and this book is a compendium of these papers; however, the author does cite other references. This is not a textbook in the usual sense, as it does not contain any standard exercises; however, it does contain a number of review questions. These will be especially useful for self-motivated readers who want to get the most out of each chapter. The book can be used for advanced graduate students and researchers interested in knowing about data integration theory (this information is also mentioned on the book's back cover).
