Germanischer Lloyd's chief executive Dr Hermann Klein recommends that shippers start getting used to the idea of longer transit times. Speaking recently at a reception for the British shipping press, he pointed out the tremendous savings to be made by ocean carriers from improved fuel efficiency at today's average fuel price.
