The back cover claims that this is "The only book to offer both technical and practical guidance to the design of durable concrete for reinforced concrete structures", which is quite a grand claim to live up to.rnThe book covers deterioration mechanisms, then moves on to materials for improved durability, construction for improved durability and design for improved durability. It finishes off with repair methods illustrated by a number of case studies.rnUnfortunately, the book does not get off to a good start. The figures in the introduction are poorly reproduced and by stating in the introduction that a report was published "this week" the text can be dated to having been written in 2005.
