The president of the Ivory Coast, Laurent Cbagbo, has said that the country could almost double cocoa production to two million tonnes over the next five years.rnThe statements were made as he started off his election campaign after a polling date was setfor3i October. "If I am elected president, it will be necessary for us to transform production over the next ten years," Cbagbo says. Current production is around 1.2 million tonnes a year and is falling as years of political instability and paralysis has taken their toll on the ailing sector.
