We all know the feeling of being seduced by "the look"-by the wink of a TV, the blink of an amplifier, or the nod of a DVD player. It's love at first sight, magnetic attraction. One look and you're hooked. Now, I take full responsibility for my impulsive buying habits, but I also pin a lot of it on design. Consumer-electronics manufacturers spend billions on research and development, leading us the point where, in a matter of seconds, we are moths to the flame of design, and yet they still continue to spin webs of brushed aluminum around us with breathless ease.
