Whenever I write a letter to a constituent, or to a Minister raising a constituent's problem, I write the address, put the letter into an envelope and pop it into a post-box. Eventually, the letter arrives at its destination, and usually (sometimes even with Ministers) prompts a reply. There are other ways of communicating. Telephone is one. The dreaded fax machine is another. And the new fangled Internet based systems are the most modern. How secure are they? Well, we all know that telephone messages can be intercepted, or bugged. Prince Charles knows that. Fax messages too can go astray, as at least one Minister in the last Government found out to his cost.
