摘要

Hu and Liu propose a global relational two-stage Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method in order to produce effective and informative performance results for the construction industry. A relational two-stage DEA method systematically measures overall efficiency for a whole construction system and also yields scores for individual stages of construction. The authors apply this new approach to the Australian construction industry to determine its profitability performance, efficiency and effectiveness. They find that that construction profitability performance and efficiency had lower values within the study period from 1991 to 2012 for all Australian states and territories when compared with higher values for effectiveness. The authors suggest that the developed method might be used for construction projects, organisations or industries to quantify their performance, identify internal inefficiency components and recognise competitive advantages for promoting sustainable development.
