摘要

While safe workplaces have been a significant focus in recent decades, healthy workplaces have rarely been the focus of investigation in project based construction work. Townsend, Loudoun and Markwell seek to address this with a focus on the role that line managers play in both creating and maintaining healthy work environments in such contexts. The authors carried out qualitative research in order to better understand the perceptions that organizational actors hold of they way that line managers influence the food consumption of construction workers in six large civil construction sites. While participants initially suggest that line managers have no influence over the eating habits of the people on their worksite, further investigation demonstrates that the design of eating areas, working time pressures, and the managers' own behaviours influence the food consumption habits in these workplaces.
