Walker and Rowlinson, as editors of Procurement Systems, present thorough treatment of a subject that they contend has received inadequate attention in traditional project management theory and practice. For instance, they argue that the current Project Management Institute's (PMI) body of knowledge is limited in its scope and depth of procurement subject matter. While never quite offering a definition of procurement, the editors trace this evolving debate since formation of CIB's Working Commission W092, and in many respects, let readers of the book reach their own conclusions.
