Amey has pumped £81m of capital into its two rail businesses. Rail engineering consultancy Amey OWE received £63m in cash after issuing the same number of shares at £1 each to its parent company on 19 November. Track and signal works business Amey Rail received £18m in cash for issuing shares on the same day.A spokeswoman said the shares were issued to recapitalise the businesses. Amey OWR ended its last financial year at 31 December 2019 with net liabilities of £40.1m after it impaired loans worth £106.4m made to other Amey group companies.The loans were issued on 30 July 2019 and comprised of £39.7m to Amey LG, the highways maintenance business, and £66.7m to Enterprise PLC, an Amey holding company. They were written off before the end of the year. The impairment led to Amey OWR reporting a £90.2m pre-tax loss for the year.
