As a supervisor, you must be a "competent person". This term has a specific legal meaning, and the official definition spells out some of your main duties.rnAs defined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act, a competent person "means a person who,rn1. is qualified because of knowledge, training and experience to organize the work and its performance,rn2. is familiar with [the Occupational Health and Safety Act] and the regulations that apply to the work [including the Construction Regulation (Ontario Regulation 213/91)]rn3. has knowledge of any potential or actual danger to health and safety in the workplace".
