Hearing loss from loud noise is the most common non-fatal occupational disease in Ontario construction. Here are the facts:rn1. Loud noise can damage your hearing forever.rn2. The damage is usually gradual. By the time you notice that you have difficulty hearing, it's too late.rn3. There is no cure for noise-induced hearing loss. It is permanent and irreversible.rn4. Loud noise can also cause permanent ringing in the ears (tinnitus).rnHere are some signs of hearing loss:rn5. You have difficulty following conversation, especially on the phone.rn6. You frequently ask people to repeat what they've said, or you confuse words.rn7. You frequently ask for the television volume to be turned up.
