Old machines can be given new life with a control system upgrade. In cases where the steel is good, often a new control system can provide new machine performance at a fraction of the cost of a new machine. A great time to upgrade is when a factory is being reconfigured or moved to a different location. Case in point: Paper-board and corrugated-substrate provider Weyerhaeuser (Federal Way, WA) moved a 500-ft-long corrugator line from its Cerritos, CA, plant to another plant in Exeter, CA, last year.
