All segments of the packaging industry have experienced some degree of consolidation over the past 10 years. As the economy strengthens, we believe the "window of opportunity" will open wider and that valuations will improve for the owners of packaging companies wishing to explore the sale of their companies or seeking to raise expansion capital. Judging by the high level of inquiries we are receiving from both packaging company owners and potential buyers or investors, we anticipate a major pickup in merger/acquisition and financing activity over the next year. As in the past, the consolidation trend is being driven by the changing dynamics of the packaging industry. The strong buyer interest is coming from both large strategic US and international companies and from private equity groups that are flush with capital they have to invest. Most of the private equity groups that have contacted us are very knowledgeable about the packaging industry and some of them are looking for add-ons to existing packaging companies in their portfolio.
