摘要

This year we celebrate the anniversary of a remarkable event which occurred 50 years ago: the first artificial satellite of the Earth (sputnik) was launched on October 4, 1957 using the R-7 rocket. For the first time, mankind inserted into space a device that orbited around the Earth for a long time, transmitting to the ground signals about the functioning of its onboard instruments.
