Limited research has been done to investigate the various causes of lumber waste, especially during the handling stages on residential construction sites. This article aims to provide a better understanding about how lumber is handled on residential construction sites and to identify factors that generate lumber waste. Home builders can benefit from this study by learning various causes of lumber waste in residential construction and by adopting ways to minimize this waste. Ultimately, minimizing lumber waste will lead to higher profits for builders and better savings for home buyers.
