This book is part of De Gruyter Mouton's series on Semiotics, Communication and Cognition, which "focuses on the state of contemporary semiotics," understanding semiotics as an "interdisciplinary field" and applying the sign theory "not only to culture, but also to nature."rnWith such mission statement of the book series, it seemed logical that sooner or later a volume dedicated to the life and work of Thomas A. Sebeok (1920-2001) would be published within this series.
