摘要

The linguistic challenge of describing what paintings, drawings, and photographs can illustrate inspired the belief that "a picture is worth a thousand words." In barely more words than that, I must communicate what it is like to create 3D sculptural forms in stone, effected by movements of a human body (mine, to be exact), and mediated by real tools. I address only a few issues, each pointing to the cybernetic nature of sculpting as a human activity. Given that constraint, I must emphasize the action through which my static sculptures arise, and not just the "statues."
