摘要

On the day after a panel/plenary discussion signalizing the centenary of Herbert Briin's birth, I presented a lecture/recital as part of the American Society for Cybernetics (ASC) 2018 Conference. It featured my performance of The Human and Non-human for Piano and Digital Delay (2018) (HNh), a set of 11 short pieces. One distinctive aspect of this piano music is the neo-Romantic harmonic fingerprint that has heretofore defined my musical personality. And yet it is full of tell-tale signs of my indulgence in a sort of clandestine protest against that backward-looking style.
