Many years ago, I was intrigued by an astronomic indicator observed by Edward R. Dewey and published in Cycles magazine. He observed that Sun-Mercury conjunctions in a certain sector of space were preceded by a rising Dow Jones Industrial Average. This article demonstrates the great accuracy of Dewey's analysis. Dewey was working in the geocentric system, which views the earth as the center of the solar system with the sun and planets revolving around it. One of the peculiarities of this system is that Mercury will never be more than 48° from the sun during its orbit. This is caused by the apparent motion of Mercury as observed from earth. This 48° limitation is called maximum elongation.
