Cooperative dairies have played a significant role in consolidating the market for milk and allied products. Importantly, they connect the suppliers to the consumers. Dealing with a perishable product such as milk is one challenge for organising the operations. The other challenge is creating market awareness within the illiterate to partially literate community of small scale suppliers.
