The generally low milk prod-uct prices and the low prices of fats due to high EU inter-vention purchases in the first half of 2016 hit German dairy Omira hard, it says. But in spite of these conditions the dairy had sales last year of around €420 million (2015: €460 million) and a positive annual result of around €1 million. The producers were paid 27.7 cent/kg of milk in 2016. Approximately 30% of the Omira milk producers were able to profit from a fixed- price contract, which could significantly cushion the diffi-cult market situ-ation.
