Q. What prompted your family to make added-value products such as ice cream? In June 2007 we started making the ice cream, just because we were in a similar situation to now - the milk prices were really low. We went to a Dairy Event, and talked with some people, and spent a year looking at it. The dairy business was started by my grandad Hector at Cliffe House Farm in 1947. We were one of seven dairies around Dungworth and now we're the only one. We are four miles from the centre of Sheffield and on the edge of the Peak District. Back in the day, he delivered what they called "loose milk," so it would be delivered to whatever container the household had available - teapots, churn, etc. We still deliver it in glass bottles with cardboard tops to around 900 families locally. When we launched the ice cream, we rebranded to our bright pink Our Cow Molly logo, which we use on all our packaging now.
