Ireland's first quota-free month saw milk deliveries climb 14.5% in April compared to the previous year, a rise of 98 million litres. This comes as no great surprise given Ireland's plans to increase milk production 50% by 2020, from the 2007-09 average base of 5.1 billion litres. Irish production had already risen nearly 10% from this baseline by the end of the 2014/15 milk year, despite being constrained by quota, DairyCo reports.
