The dairy site is a tight fit. Singleton's of Longridge in the northwest of the UK is shoehomed into a space between a high school, its playing fields and a housing estate. The PDO cheese maker and exporter sells around 4,000 tonnes of cheese per year from this facility, and John Carr, the firm's sales and export manager, laughs and says that often, it is the milk wagons versus the school run on the road leading into the dairy processor. Fifty-five people currently work at the site.rnThat being said, Singleton's makes the best of what space it has, having been in the same location since 1959. Established in 1934, the company is currently owned by Bill Riding, a fourth generation cheese maker, and his sister Tilly.
