New Zealand's Ministry of Agriculture is forecasting further declines in world prices through 2009 as the country's herd increases and the US, Europe and Australia all increase production. The ministry also sees the Australian and New Zealand markets improving as the drought recedes and the output recovers. The increase in the EU production quota of 2% will also add 2.8 million tons of output in 2008. Prices are now down about 9% , according to a Commonwealth Bank of Australia index.
