When the enter- prise starts sag- ging under the weight of heavy traffic, corporate networkers can't wait for help to arrive—they need it now. That has them looking at 100Base-T switches as a solution: Whether it's a matter of linking LANs or furnishing high-speed access to servers, these boxes are ready. The only question is, are they able? Data Comm decided to find out. Along with European Network Laboratories (ENL, Paris), we ran the first-ever stress test of these products, taking a variety of measurements on frame loss, latency, and speed. Network managers will probably find a lot to like in the results.
