Network spin-meisters can talk up the benefits of PC- and Unix-based client-server computing until they're blue in the face. Corporate networkers are having none of it. "Get rid of the heavy iron?" says Thomas Graham, senior network systems analyst at Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Florida (Jacksonville). "Forger it. The main-frame is still the main server for the most important data in my company. It's where the beef of our business is."
