Your company is thinking internationally. On the table are proposals to open a distribution center in Eastern Europe, retail food stores in India, and a manufacturing plant in Chile. Also under discussion are a joint venture with a mining company in Ghana and an investment opportunity in the Philippines. The marketing department has done an assessment, finance has studied exchange rates, and you've done all kinds of research on the companies and organizations with which your company might partner in these countries. But there's a missing piece in the planning process. Your CEO puts it succinctly, "If I'm going to get on a plane and travel to these places, will I be safe? If we put our employees into these countries, will they be at risk?"
