This special issue of DSJIE on Teaching Analytics contains one teaching brief, two conceptual articles, and three empirical research articles. In “Teaching Hadoop Using Role Play Games,” ZhiguoYang presents strategies for teaching and learning of Hadoop technology in a role-playing situation. This paper not only shows how Hadoop can be used in the classroom in contexts of role-playing, but it also explains the different dimensions of Hadoop, such as MapReduce, and Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS).
