摘要

The attempted coup in Turkey has exposed the underhand threats to the Turkish democracy. The incubent government under authoritarian President Erdogan has succeeded to turn the tide of the failed coup, thereby safeguarding the democratic institutions of the country. But, the harsh and punitive measures adopted by the government do not bode well, which could well create further complications and impediments to President Erdogan to manage the internal politics as well as Turkey's relations with the US and the EU. The president should exercise prudence and sagacity by adopting a more cautious approach to tackling the unfolding situation.
