Four persons, including a Sub-Inspector (SI), were killed while 13 others were injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up in a sectarian attack outside an Imambargah (Shia place of commemoration) in Gracy Line area near airport in Rawalpindi District on December 17, reported The News. At least five soldiers were killed and 34 others, including 28 soldiers and six Frontier Corps (FC) personnel, were wounded when a suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden car into a military checkpoint in Mir Ali tehsil (revenue unit) of Miranshah in North Waziristan Agency of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) on December 18, reported Dawn. A senior security official said that "a truck laden with explosives was rammed into the checkpoint when security officials were offering evening prayers".
