Pakistan's defence budget is justified not only because of the arguments presented above butrnalso because of the countless social welfare, rescue and rehabilitation activities that the military indulges in, which no other organization in Pakistan can carry out. In the wake of natural calamities like floods, storms, landslides, earthquakes, epidemics, extreme law and order situations, helping (IDPs) and famine; it is the military that comes to aid the people in every trial and tribulation. The economic cost of all these peacetime activities is hard to calculate but is immensely huge in magnitude.
