摘要

The beginning of the century was marked by the determination to find ways and means to accelerate peace and 'prosperity for the people living on planet earth. After passage of almost one decade the humanity across the globe is faced with a new set of dilemmas. A never ending war which started in the name of combating terrorism has engulfed a large part of the globe addingrnnew miseries for mankind. Not only this, but new inter and intrastate conflicts have arisen making the lives of common people even more difficult. The war against terror began without even defining terrorism and no effort was made to understand terrorism in its historical perspectives. Dr. Rubina Sehgal, while stressing the need for such a definition feels astonished to note the history of globe began after 9/11. Thernfew powerful in the world deliberately alienate such concepts from the historical framework. The role of media to support and disseminate such misconceptions becomes vital in the whole war and peace scenario. The notion of peace press on the other hand is based on the assumption that media can play a role in conflict resolution just as it cashes on war and conflict it has the potential to reverse the process.
