KHAIR-UD-DIN (KHIREDDIN) with his red beard known as BARBROSSA was the greatest Muslim Admiral who with his strategy and bold tactics had won many battles against superior naval and ground forces. The word Admiral is corruption of AMIR-UL-BAHAR. The European countries' naval ships were formidable in quality and number, fitted with cannons, rocket and flame delivering machines and commanded by experienced commanders and crews. The study of his daring exploits and personal valour is inspiring and is considered a golden chapter of Muslim history. For years his naval ships dominated the MEDITERRANEAN Sea, the ADRIATIC Sea, the TYRRHENIAN Sea, the AEGEAN Sea, the Gulf of GABES, the RED Sea and even the Indian Ocean. The presence of his ships close to the North African shore was a great source of strength and morale booster for the Muslims living in various ports and towns of North Africa.
