摘要

While many may still have inhibitions about the aim and objective of setting up of NSC without getting to know the purpose and functioning of such organization, the fact is that NSC is a modern concept now adopted by most of the countries to deal with internal and external emergent security situations. We have witnessed internal turmoil, the rise of JMB (Jamaitul Mujahideen-I-Bangladesh) with pursuant objective to capture state power through violence and terrorism with the declaration of Jihad and one cannot ignore the existing and impending threat to the nation's stability. One has to take note of the increased border tension and occasional flaring up into fierce firefight as was seen in the past as well as take note of existence of low key insurgency which may flare up to a full grown insurgency on one or multiple issues.
