So which side came out better at the end of the crisis? Political leaders on both sides of the divide claimed victory. India maintains that it coerced Pakistan into acquiescing to its political demands over Kashmir, merely by the threat of use of force without the need to do so and hence won a classic Sun Tzu style victory. Pakistan on the other hand scoffs at the Indian coercion claim. They maintain that their military readiness and resolve among other factors deterred Indian aggressive intents - a charge Indian military leadership denies vehemently and appear allergic to it. Serious military analysts from both Pakistan and India take a more balanced and sanguine approach.
