The Indo - Pak peace process, initiated over a year ago is becoming a bane for both the countries for lack of proper handling. Viewed in retrospect, the Indian leadership allowed the process of people to people contact to gain or while away time. But the process generated its own momentum and developed its own dynamics that left no doubt in any one's mind that the people of the sub-continent desired a peaceful coexistence. The process sent a loud and clear message to the whole world that the poor people of India and Pakistan had no cause to fight each other as their common enemies were poverty, ignorance and disease. And that, more than half a century wasted in saber rattling was purposely upheld by the vested interests of the respective leaderships.
