摘要

The eleventh test pilot to fly the upcoming (since 1989) Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) christened Tejas is a naval aviator. Commander J A Maolankar, an experienced Sea Harrier pilot, flew the Tejas TD-II (Technology Demonstrator-II) on February 1st, 2006 for about 30 minutes over Bangalore. Programme Director (Combat Aircraft) and Director of Aeronautical Development Agency, P S Subramanyam, termed the flight a "breakthrough". Indian Defence planning moguls had cause to celebrate as they did earlier on December 1st, 2005 after the maiden flight of LCA's Prototype Vehicle-2 (PV-2).
