President General Pervez Musharraf's recent visit to the Latin American countries including Brazil, Argentina and Mexico has set the basis for the start of new partnership with these equally important countries of South and Central America. President Musharraf thus becomes the first-ever Pakistani head of State, who paid an official visit to these countries. Until now that part of the world was unexplored and un-ven-tured but now we can assume that Latin America stands discovered. President's first interaction was with the President of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. With the population of 180 million people, Brazil is the world's 6th biggest country. After 300 years of Portuguese rule, Brazil got independence in 1822. During the last 175 years, Brazil has made great strides in constitutional, political and economic fields. The President's visit marked the strengthening of diplomatic ties with Brazilia.
