摘要

It is estimated that if the dollar's decline does not halt soon and if the fall becomes sharper, the economy of Pakistan especially and the world economy generally may badly hit. There would be the danger of world economy suffering a big setback, even if it does not cause a long depression. To ward off foreign-exchange risks, Pakistan needs to readjust the current foreign exchange holding structure, increasing the proportion of euro and other major international currencies in its forex reserves. The two best performing economies in Asia are China and Malaysia. Their currencies have fixed and stable parities with the US dollar for the past several years. Pakistan should learn lessons from them and trying its level best to get rid of dollar dependency as soon as possible for the stability of rupee and economy.
