US politicians and citizens of all political persuasions are in for a dose of shock therapy. Without major changes in current policies and political prejudices, the federal budget 2006, simply cannot hold together. President Bush has presented his budget 2006 and has cut domestic spending in a bid to lower a record deficit projected to peak at $427bn this fiscal year. The $2.58 trillion budget submitted to Congress affects 150 domestic programmes from agriculture/ farming to the environment/space, education/schooling and health care and medication. But foreign aid is due to rise by 10%. It is because of "Containment Policy" of US. To successfully fight against increasing ratios of HIV/Aids more money has been allocated in the budget 2006. Priorities are also given to initiate new economic and political reforms. The budget does not include the cost of running military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, for which the administration is expected to seek an extra $80bn from Congress later this year.
