Can the devastating earthquake, which hit South Asia on October 8th killing 80,000 people in Pakistan and India and rendering four million homeless on both sides of Kashmir bring about a lasting settlement of the 16 year old dispute? . President Pervez Musharraf and Pakistanis as a whole want that to happen with the help of the world's nations and the earnest efforts of the leaders of Pakistan and India. The President was the first to speak on the subject when he told the international donors conference that the best donation India can make following the quake was the lasting settlement of the Kashmir issue.
