摘要

The success of the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter extends worldwide. Boeing reports that 300 new and reconfigured AH-64Ds are either in production or due for delivery in 2012. There are currently at least 10 international customers for the D variant, including the UK, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Singapore. The aircraft has found particular favour in the Eastern Mediterranean, where Greece, Israel and Egypt all purchased the original AH-64A variant in the 1990s.The Hellenic Army took delivery of 20 AH-64As in 1995, a year before production ceased. One of only five international purchasers to invest in Apache from the beginning, Greece has kept up its commitment to the aircraft. In 2002, it ordered 12 AH-64D Longbows, and six years later also began negotiations to upgrade its A variant aircraft. The first of AH-64D Longbows arrived in 2007, although, so far the Hellenic Army has taken delivery of only four.
