With ongoing operational commitments and a defence review under way, improving the efficiency of defence has arguably never been more important. The delivery of medical services is by no means exempt from this and the need to improve the way defence medicine functions has been given due attention in recent years.rnAs part of a wider defence health transformation, the Midlands Medical Accommodation (MMA) programme is effecting significant changes to the organisation and location of Defence Medical Services. Still only part way through implementation, this programme is already delivering benefits both in terms of organisational effectiveness and cost reduction, according to Air Vice Marshal Paul Evans and John Bennett.
