In early January 2009, the Ministry of Defence celebrated the fruits of their Deployable Engineer Workshop (DEW) programme, which saw the first of four rapidly deployable half-football-pitch sized facilities brought into service. Offering perspectives from industry and their equipment and support team, Richard Holloway, Battlefield Utilities team leader, was cued as saying: "I am delighted that BFU IPX (Integrated Project Team) has been able to provide Royal Engineer tradesmen with the wide range of engineering facilities in such a good working environment, and to bring this new capability into service on time and within budget. DEW has successfully passed extensive user trials and I am confident it will perform well in the demanding operational environment."
