摘要

The image of homelessness that grabs the headlines and the snapshot from reality are often two very different pictures. And it's no different when it comes to the subject of homelessness amongst ex-service men and women.rnA significant number of people dealt with by frontline support workers have served in the armed forces. Most are not the dashing young men recently back from serving their country, but are mainly older men, often too proud to ask fot help, having had years of being the provider of comfort and assistance all over the world.rnA study commissioned by The Ex-Service Action Group on homelessness, completed in June 2008, aimed to investigate the real face of homelessness in London. A previous report conducted in 1997 had shown that between 22 and 25% of those classed as 'homeless', which includes not just rough sleepers but those who live in temporary accommodation, bedsits and with friends or family, were ex-service.
