War produces casualties. Casualties may be fatal but, in low intensity conflicts, many more result in disability that can become long term. For someone who is young and has perhaps lost a limb, there are enormous difficulties to overcome. There are the 'what can I usefully do now' questions. There are also the 'how am I going to manage in a pracrical way' questions. It is the practical world of day to day living that must be mastered before the issues of job and the way forward can be explored.rnEveryone wants to live in their own home. For the person in a wheelchair, however, upstairs has now become a no-go area. If the toilet and bathroom are upstairs, this is a fundamental problem that may be addressed by living upstairs but at the cost of being a captive in his/her own home. Alternatively, rearranging the house, and living downstairs is an alternative but it results in living space being halved as upstairs is inaccessible. The normal human reaction is to want to have all the space in the house available and to get life back to some form of normality without delay.
